The men of West Alabama’s tennis, ranked 23, have stayed undefeated while traveling on the road for the past few games. The Tigers continued their winning streak this past week after claiming a victory over Delta State on Friday and Ouachita State on Saturday.

Nestor Vargas (6-4, 6-2), Simon Bardell (6-0, 6-4), Manuel Grossmann (6-0, 6-0), Adam Drysdale (6-7, 6-3) and Anton Ivanov (2-6, 7-5) won their singles matches.

Kike Ruiz/ Vargas (8-6), Bardell/Grossmann (8-3) and Drysdale/Ivanov (8-4) were paired together and added three more wins, making their overall game record of the day 8-1.

“This is a very good Delta State tennis team that we beat today,” head coach Glen Fanelli said, “and it doesn’t get any easier tomorrow with Ouachita State, whose number one (Marko Boskovic), is the third-ranked player in the nation.”

The high ranking of Ouachita’s players, were no match for the tigers. UWA’s very own Ivanov defeated the nation’s 19 ranked player with a singles match victory of 6-0, 6-4.

Vargas (7-6, 1-6, 6-4), Bardell (6-3, 6-2), Drysdale (3-6, 6-2, 6-5), Ruiz (6-0, 6-1) and Grossmann (6-0, 6-1) claimed multiple victories in their single matches.

Vargas was paired with Ruiz (8-6) and Grossmann was paired with Bardell (8-0) adding two more wins, making the final game score for Saturday 8-1.
