The school year has started and I would like to welcome everyone back from their summer. Whether you have worked your entire summer or just lazed about and enjoyed life, it’s time to get back into the swing of things and get the fall semester out of the way.
This week I am once again reviewing a laptop from BestBuy. The Asus-N56-Series 15.6″ Laptop is one of the better buys that I’ve found and I was eager to review it. The price tag on this laptop is $1045; while this might be a massive price for most of the college students around, one cannot refute the fact that it is a good buy for a major retailer like BestBuy.
The processor in this laptop is a quad core i7 with 2.4 Ghz of processing power. The four cores in this processor mean that it can handle a multitude of applications running at the same time with little to no effort. This machine is assured to be quick with the opening of applications and running them without fail as long as it is given the proper care it needs.
The RAM bundles well with the processor. With 8 GB of installed RAM this machine can open and assist the processor in accessing any applications quickly and effectively. One of the key components of this RAM section is that the original 8 GB can be upgraded to 16 GB which will give this laptop even more speed. This amount of RAM is also a gift to gamers, who usually need a high amount of RAM to run the latest games.
The graphics card in this laptop came as a surprise to me. The NVidia GeForce GT 635M card running with 2 GB of dedicated video memory will take massive amounts of stress off of the processor, freeing it up to improve the frame-rate of whatever it is that the user is trying to run. This was truly a surprising find which people generally cannot find with most major retail stores.
The additional features refer to several items on this laptop that help it to stand out among most other competitors. One thing that helps this ASUS laptop stand out is its 1 TB hard drive along with having the Windows 8 Operating System. While I personally disapprove of Windows 8, some people might approve of it, especially those with touch screen computers and laptops.
Even though it is expensive, all in all this laptop is a great buy and I highly recommend it. With a quad-core 2.4 Ghz processor and enough RAM to compliment it this laptop is definitely one of the better ones that I have reviewed. Its graphics card was surprisingly efficient but its 1 TB hard drive seems a little superfluous. Overall I am pleased to give the Asus – N56-Series 15.6″ Laptop a 4/5.
Processor: 4/5 – The quad-core, 2.4 GHz processor in this laptop is a fine piece of technology which will allow you to run most applications without any real trouble with the speed of the laptop.
RAM: 4/5 – 8GB of RAM is a perfect balance. This laptop has enough to be extremely fast without being overloaded with more RAM than it needs.
Graphics Card: 3/5 – The NVidia GeForce GT 635M graphics card provides 2 GB of on-board, dedicated video memory which will allow it to take considerable strain off of the processor when playing the latest games.
