The University of West Alabama Theatre presented a unique production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Willam Shakespeare from Mar. 12-15. Open to the university and the community, curtain call was at 7:30 p.m nightly in Bibb Graves Auditorium.
Under the direction of Arthur Grothe, the UWA Theatre Department was able to put on a splendid and awe inspiring performance which was guaranteed to capture the attention of the audience no matter what one’s view may have been about Shakespeare. The play held the standard storyline of the Shakespeare story, adding to it a phenomenal cast that tastefully incorporated the play’s still relevant humor.
The phenomenal cast was made up of the following UWA students: Whitney Nelson, freshman; Quincey White, junior from Millry,Ala.; Nicholas Finch, a graduate student from Toddtown,Ala.; Gordon Warner, sophomore form Richman, Maine.; Megan Clark, sophomore from Cullman, Ala.; Virginia Gremmels, a senior; Brittany Walker of McKenzie, Ala.; Dequante Shockley of Troy, Ala.; Tazra Pitts a senior; and Allie Carson, senior from Northport, Ala.
There was also a host of students working backstage and behind the scenes who played a role in making this production possible. The UWA Theatre Department expressed acknowledgements as printed on the program to The Univsersity of West Alabama Board of Trustees, The Office of the President, Dr. David Taylor, Dr. Tim Edwards, and The University of West Alabama.
