The University of West Alabama Men’s Soccer team is auctioning off three 65- inch flat screen televisions as well as Manchester United Soccer Gear for the #JoshStrong fundraiser. The auction tickets will be sold for $10 each and the tickets can be purchased from any of the team’s players. All of the money will go towards helping a fellow UWA student, Josh Gurvitz, who was involved in an automobile accident and is now paralyzed from the waist down.

The winner of the raffle will be announced at half time of the mens soccer alumni game on April 22 at 1 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. The winner does not have to be present at the game to win. A phone call will be made to the winner if they are not in attendance.

In addition to auctioning off a flat screen TV, the team will also be auctioning off a signed Manchester United Jersey, as well as a pair of soccer cleats signed by Jesse Lingard. The bids for the boots will start at $100.

“We are hoping to raise a lot of money for our mate, Josh Gurvitz, and we hope to have people also come out and make donations while enjoying a nice day of soccer for our Alumni Game,” senior Jamie Cox said. Josh Gurvitz is in recovery and is trying to do his best everyday to get back to where he used to be. A Facebook wall keeps all of the students of UWA up to date on Josh’s Journey, and his father Phil Gurvitz makes posts so that everyone can see how Josh is doing everyday.
