The UWA Bass Club is taking preorders for a catfish plate dinner fund raiser to be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, with pick up from 11 am to 3 pm at Truelove Place, directly across from Gilbert Hall. Walk-ups are welcome; however, Doyle Truelove, team advisor and coach, reminds everyone that the only way to ensure receiving your delicious catfish plate, complete with baked beans, coleslaw, and water, is to preorder. Plates are $7.50.
The club, now in its third semester, will compete its first time this year in a university tournament at Okeechobee Lake, known to locals as “The Big O.” The Okeechobee has the distinction of being Florida’s largest freshwater lake. Proceeds from the fish fry will help offset team travel expenses to the competition.
Purchase advance tickets directly from club members, which include Brandon Rivers, president, Mitch Brumbeloe, vice president, Mark Grant, secretary, Whitney Perkins, treasurer, Mitchell Fox, Cody Rodgers, Andrew Warbington, Thomas Cramer, Will Morgan, Doyle Truelove, who can be reached at email@example.com or at 205–499–9143, and Jeff Shelton, who can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 601-917-7305. Tickets are also available at the Physical Plant. Donations are welcomed.
